Rounds 7 & 8 of the Ecuadorian Rotax Max Challenge and National Championship kicked off last weekend in the Ecuadorian city of Guayaquil, one of the most picturesque cities in the county along with being of the fastest and most technical circuits on the calendar.
The official COMPKART Ecuador team led by Luis Davila, arrived with two drivers in the strongest categories, Max Jr, and DD2. Drivers Juan Diego Villacis, current points leader in Jr. and Juan Pablo Albarracin who has recently rejoined the team and found speed immediately!
During the week, JD Villacis proved why he is the current championship leader in Jr. and why he was last year’s champion as he was the fastest driver in the category the entire event and went on to qualify pole position along with winning every heat race and the final in fine fashion.
On the DD2 side of things JP Albarracin along with JD Villacis proved they were ready for fight for a spot on the podium as well. Showing great pace and the ability to compete at the sharp end of the field nearly every session, the duo was hindered with a few on track incidents during the heat races which kept the two from showing their full potential.
Come final time JP Albarracin was able to put his COMPKART Ecuador tuned chassis on the podium in 3rd place while teammate JD Villacis also had the correct solution coming from last to finish 2nd in a very exciting final!
