The J3 Competition Race Department kept their summer roadshow up last week as it approached the renowned New Castle Motorsports Park for the return of SuperKartsUSA Pro Tour racing to the Midwest. With record breaking entries alongside the return of high-grip conditions only the best drivers and tuners would be able to emerge.
The TaG Jr. Category was one filled with several champions including COMPKART driver David Malukas. After a solid run from last on Saturday to finish in third place, Malukas returned on Sunday aiming for the top step. With a hard fought final on Sunday where Malukas showed the muscle of his COMPKART pacing three tenths clear of the field he took the victory by and incredible .001 second margin of victory! Team driver Max Hewitt also had a very solid outing after early week issues by capturing two top fifteen results with solid pace. Both drivers will be back at it next week at the Rotax Grand Nationals.
One of the show pieces over the weekend was the sixty plus entrries in the TaG Sr. category. With a solid line up drivers entered in the category, COMPKART chassis were taking the fight to the top of the field the entire event. The team’s young line up was able to secure a few top fifteen finishes with David Ilavia taking home tenth on Sunday, just a couple spots above teammate Braden Eves.
“It was a rewarding weekend for us, Malukas was able to take a big win along with a couple additional podiums proving the effectiveness of our chassis in shifter and non-shifter applications. In the end we are also very pleased with our extremely young senior drivers who battled at the front in the tricky conditions, the season is just getting started for us”, Team Management
