The team took to the challenging PKRA facility Phoenix for rounds 3 and 4 of the COTA Championships with its standard COTA lineup with the addition of newcomer Max Hewitt.

A tight championship battle was set to ensue in the DD2 category between the three main protagonists. Ilavia was set looking for a repeat of the Tucson performance has his pace was very solid on Thursday and Friday’s practice days. Moving into Saturday Ilavia looked solid as he retained the pole position for period until the competitors were able to maximize a ‘draft’ and bumped him from the spot, howe3ver, Ilavia rebounded with an impressive win in the pre final, which was backed up with a second place finish in the final. On Sunday Ilavia proved to be again in the chase as he grabbed the pre final win and lead the final until lap 18 when a deep move send him back to second place in the end Ilavia ended third with a chance for the championship heading into the final round in Sonoma.

The junior drivers were at the front battle for top five finishes on both Saturday and Sunday. However, once Saturday started both Ilavia and Hewitt would find themselves on the wrong end of a couple on track incidents. Both drivers settled for solid top ten finishes in the pre final, however in the final Hewitt was subject to an incident sending himself to the hospital with a hand injury, where Ilavia rebounded form a rough first stage of the race to take solid 8th place points for the championship. Sunday looked even better for the duo after a nice pre final run by both drivers, the final saw Hewitt vying for a top five finish until and unfortunate brake issue occurred sidelining the youngster while Ilavia was able to battle to the bitter end and take a top five finish boosting himself to fourth in the championship heading to the final round.
