The RPG race team had a successful test last weekend at Infineon Raceway in preparation for the final round of the Gatorz Challenge of the Americas. Five drivers tested new solutions in four different rotax classes. McKay Snow continued his progress and was quicker every session testing his 2011 Kosmic in Minimax. The team was focused on developing engine solutions for this event and came away with plenty of information and positive results for the race weekend.
Madison Snow tested in Rotax Senior and continued to impress. Out of the gate he ran competitive times on his Friday test day. Transitioning from cars to karts in just a few days Madison ran his fastest laps on Friday afternoon as the track gained some grip.
Luke Selliken in Rotax Junior arrived at Infineon for the first time on Saturday. He loved the Infineon track and by Sunday afternoon had mastered the famous Tic-Tak -Toe section of the raceway.
RPG veteran driver Derek Wang came to the Infineon test on a mission. He had a new 2011 RPG/Kosmic DD2 chassis and wanted plenty of seat time to get used to the new kart. Well it didn’t take long. After a quick 10 lap shakedown of the new tubes he proceeded to run over 5 tenths quicker on his new Kosmic than his old chassis brand. Wang was impressed and excited with the new Kosmic. Throughout the weekend Wang ran even quicker laps as he learned the capabilities of the ne kart.
Carlos Calderon also tested new solutions this past weekend at Infineon. On Sunday afternoon when the rain came to the raceway and many other drivers loaded up their equipment Carlos jumped into the seat. Having a bit of local knowledge Carlos knew the potential for rain on the race weekend. He ran dozens of laps Sunday afternoon getting faster each session and fully prepared for the upcoming race.
For the 2011 finale of the Challenge of the Americas RPG will have six drivers entered in five different classes:
Parker McKean – Rotax Junior
McKay Snow – MiniMax
Carlos Calderon – Senior
Derek Wang – DD2 Senior
Luke Selliken – Rotax Junior
Kyle Byers – Rotax Senior
