2024 US Trophy East Series Concludes

Three Drivers Earn Tickets to RMC Grand Finals

Erie, PA – August 5, 2024

Race Rotax concluded its 2024 Rotax Trophy East series this past weekend by ending the two-event series at Pitt International Race Complex in Wampum, Pennsylvania. Following an exciting first round in Batavia, OH at MCC Karting Complex the series witnessed first-time series Champions and RMC Grand Final ticket winners. In addition to the championship awards, several event awards were handed out to further incentivize loyal participants. Competitors will now turn their compass toward the US Trophy Final event held later this month at New Castle Motorsports Park where an additional six RMC Grand Finals tickets will be up for grabs.

“Pitt Race Complex proved yet again that it is one of the finest and most challenging facilities in the United States.  We had to deal with some inclement weather which put added variability into the race action.  We awarded our deserving competitors on Sunday, including event winners, series champions, and RMC ticket winners. We thank everyone who participated in the Trophy East series and look forward to concluding the 2024 competition season in just under three weeks at New Castle Motorsports Part for the US Trophy Final.” – John Giacomelli, Race Rotax

Junior MAX

With mixed weather all weekend the Junior MAX category witnessed some great racing between the frontrunners through the field.  After a mixed set of heats, Isaac Malcuit asserted himself as a favorite after winning the pre-final where he was followed by Davin Roberts, Bex Cranston, and Darren Kidd.  With clear skies on Sunday, the action was packed as Malcuit was able to break away for the win where the battle for second heated up between Roberts and Buher with Roberts able to pull a slight margin in the fading laps to secure second place with Buher rounding out the podium.

Top three championship winners were:  Davin Roberts (1) | Landon Buher (2) | Derek Wargo (3)

Senior MAX

The Senior MAX category lost a few entries for the final rounds due to scheduling conflicts and some drivers opting to prepare for the US Trophy Final, however, the battle for the championship and RMC Grand Finals ticket was spectacular.  On Saturday in the wet and dry conditions, it was Wesley Gundler and Aidan Fox who quickly looked to be the ones to beat as their ability to hit the mark was impressive with a quartet of Kekati, Lourenco, O’Clair, and Hernandez all battling to stay in the mix. Fox would go on to win the pre-final setting himself up well for the championship, however, teammate Wesley Gundler had a different plan in mind.  Gundler would go on to win the final over Aidan Fox who finished second and Aidan Lourenco took a well-deserved third-place finish making it a F&S podium sweep.

Top three championship winners were:  Wesley Gundler (1) | Aidan Fox (2) | Cooper O’Clair (3)

Masters MAX

The battle for supremacy between John Bonanno and Laurentiu Mardan continued throughout the weekend with only one point separating the two drivers in the championship standings heading into the weekend.  After qualifying, a new face joined the duo as Ray Banach put his name in the mix with a second place in heat race one.  As the event continued, John Bonanno emerged by winning the pre-final which he followed up with the final win and championship while Mardan came home second with a great effort followed by Chris McGinley on the final step of the podium.

Top three championship winners were:  John Bonanno (1) | Laurentiu Mardan (2) | Ray Banach (3)

Mini / Micro MAX

With an extremely close championship in the Mini MAX category heading into the week, the action was fierce all weekend. With a near-zero margin in the championship points race between the top three drivers Digennaro, Varela and Kotowski were constantly swapping the lead places.  After the final results were released on Sunday, it was Enzo Digennaro winning the overall championship and RMC Grand Finals ticket while Brazilian standout Lourenco Varela earned a close second place and Conner Lypka finished third in the championship being rewarded for his consistency.

Top three Mini championship winners were:  Enzo Digennaro (1) | Lourenco Varela (2) | Conner Lypka (3)

Top three Micro championship winners were:  Griffin Vukich (1) | Jack Kotowski (2) | Slate Harrell (3)
