J3 COMPETITION CASHES IN AT THE FLORIDA CUP PLUS MORE!!

After phenomenal triumphs in the months of January and February the team at J3 Competition stepped into March with Florida Cup championships and prestigious awards on the line. The month of March began in sunny Homestead-Miami, Florida for the culmination of the CKI Florida Cup before the team headed north the famed Ocala Gan Prix circuit for the FWT series. While in Homestead-Miami J3 Competition successfully captured a bulk of the prestigious awards including some tangible dollars along with a 2010 Mazda 3 car!
The Florida Cup was highlighted with Rotax Sr. points leader and eventual champion, Richard Benitez. Aboard his J3 Competition Kosmic chassis, Benitez dominated the first two Florida Cup events and continued to take the necessary steps into the final round to secure the prestigious championship and prize package. Benitez captured the pole position on Saturday as well as on Sunday thus; making it six for six in qualifying and proving the team at J3 Competition has one of the best Rotax Senior packages available on the continent. Finishing out the weekend with a podium finish of second in Saturday’s final and two runner-up spots in both pre-finals were more than enough take the overall championship by a total of 45 points. For his successes, Benitez was awarded a free entry into the 2010 US Rotax Finals along with a stylish 2010 Mazda 3 car, this made two championships in Florida over the past two years for J3 Competition and Benitez.
Alongside Benitez during the entire Florida Cup was fellow Puerto Rican Manuel Sanjenis. Sanjenis provided steady improvement over the Florida Cup by besting his results at the final round where he would start Saturday’s final from off-pole and finished in eighth place. Sanjenis rounded out the championship in eighth place, which will be a goal he will be looking to improve upon in the 2011 Florida Cup championship.

J3 Competition junior pilot Alessandra Madrigal continued her voyage of the 2010 Florida Cup with her persistent entries in both Rotax Junior and KF3. Although the KF3 field was small in size the young driver proved to be steadfast as she finished what she started by sweeping the final two rounds and securing the championship. Working in the last two rounds to better develop and understand some of the new materials J3 Competition offers for 2010 will prove to be critical as she will now head into the national series looking to compete for another successful championship. As the only junior driver pulling double duty, Madrigal entered the final round in third place in the Rotax Junior points behind Sebastian Ordonez and Jesus Rios. Madrigal started off great by qualifying second for Saturday’s event, but a few race incidents held her back as she finished fourth with the second fastest race lap. Sunday was similar as Madrigal scored a hard fought second in the final which was enough to catapult her into second in the final standings. The result of her persistent finishes gave Alessandra the award for most podiums and a check for a nice $2,500.00!

Taking to the track for J3 Competition in the KF2 category was senior rookie Phillip Orcic. Orcic traveled to Homestead via La Conca, Italy where he competed in the previous weekend at the WSK Euro season opener. Gaining immense knowledge over the first three months of the 2010 season Orcic arrived late on Friday, however, it proved plenty of time to secure the speed necessary to challenge some of the nation’s top drivers for the KF2 title. With speed immediately gained, Orcic battled solidly on Saturday to take the final step on the podium in third place. Sunday proved to be better for the youngster as he qualified third and subsequently drove away from the field in the pre-final taking the victory by a near two second margin. After a tussle at the start of the final Orcic would be shuffled back with a lot of work ahead of him which he successfully accomplished as he ran down the leader and made an impressive pass for the win. Crossing the line first with the black and checkered flags, Orcic would find himself penalized one position for a perceived improper pass. The result ended Orcic’s Florida Cup championship in second place.
“We really couldn’t be any more pleased with our results and championships for the 2010 Florida Cup” stated J3 Competition Inc. “The team worked flawlessly through the entire three months which is a great attribute to the processes and team we have in place in place which allow us to achieve such accomplishments. We have to also thank the staff and ownership of the CKI series for providing a great series along with a tremendous awards package.”
