J3 Competition had yet another successful weekend in Mooresville, NC at the 2013 USRMC Nationals. With drivers entered in Max Sr., Jr., Masters, and Mini Max, J3 Competition showed well and missed the podium by a mere step.
Max Sr. – After a rocky start to the week of testing driver Andrew Palmer progressively moved forward after a less than desirable qualifying session. Palmer would finish each of his three heat races in the top five giving him a solid starting position for the pre-final. After a hard fought pre-final and final, Palmer finished a well-deserved fourth place in the final.
Max Jr. – With over 50 entries in the category it proved to be one of the most competitive categories. Young drivers Ethan Tyler and Luis Forteza both had solid heat races and made the final. Unfortunately, Forteza’s final ended early, while Tyler was able to garner a solid result in his first nationals in the category. Teammate Thomas Issa fared well after a difficult qualifying effort to place himself in the top ten for the start of the final. After a solid first few laps, Issa settled in to take home a solid seventh place finish.
Mini Max – Frederick and Chick both qualified respectfully in the close field of Mini Max drivers. Chick progressed consistently in each of his heat races resulting in a solid starting position for the pre-final. Through both the pre-final and final, Chick maintained his consistency and steadily drove to a solid eight place on track result. Frederick had undoubtedly the start of the week as he advanced in one heat race from his 14th starting position to 1st by the first turn showing great timing and determination. With solid results in each of his heat races, Frederick looked solid in the final and ended up tenth in the final standings
