The SKUSA Super Nationals set directly on the horizon is building to be the principal event of the season with arguably the most talented field of drivers to date. J3 Competition Race Department has situated itself strongly for this season’s most prominent event with a total of sixteen entrants in several key categories. In addition to many new faces and some consistent pillars within the team, J3 Competition will unveil some of its new infrastructure at the Super Nationals with the final preparations being available in 2011.
The morning categories in Las Vegas will be highlighted with J3’s four TaG Jr. pilots lead by multi-time champion Tristan DeGrand. DeGrand a forerunner around the world and mainstay under the J3 Competition umbrella will look to take his first Super Nationals victory after being so close the past two seasons. Joining DeGrand will be newcomer, Alex Guenette (Canadian) who is a familiar face within the Rotax arena and most recently spent some valuable time testing with J3 Competition in preparation for the event. Taking to the circuit at the RIO All Suites Hotel will be the inclusion of Allan Ceasarman (Mexico) who has spent ample time in 2010 testing and racing on the Kosmic material as he has been consistently developing his program. Rounding out the TaG Jr. quartet is Aussie Scott Foster; Foster will complete a solid and formidable team.
For the first time SKUSA will host a cadet category at the Super Nationals, which will showcase the consistent and powerful Vortex Mini ROK package. After nearly taking the top-step in Lonato, Italy at the ROK Cup World Finals, Patricio O’Ward will work hard to lead a talented team of Mini ROK drivers under the J3 Competition team. Paired with O’Ward will be Canadian national champion Clay Van’Eerd and brothers Nicola and Sebastian Alvarez. All drivers will be aboard the dominant Kosmic ‘Rookie’ chassis.
After a brief lunch break the senior groups will take to the circuit with J3 Competition entering drivers in TaG Sr., KZ2 and TaG Masters. 2007 Super Nationals TaG winner and 2008 runner-up Joel Miller will wheel his 2011 Kosmic Mercury with Vortex ROK TT power in the effort to regain the top spot in TaG Sr. Joining Miller, will be Californian Travis Lowe, Canadian Cory Cacciavillani, and Brazilian national champion Leonardo Nienkotter. All drivers will be utilizing the 30mm Kosmic Mercury chassis with Vortex ROK TT engines.
Taking to the track in the hotly contested TaG Masters category with J3 Competition will be 2008 runner-up Brian McHattie and 2009 runner-up Kip Foster. These two will be joined by fellow Aussies Craig Willis and Eric Smith. These pilots too will be utilizing the Vortex ROK TT engine combinations.
Finishing J3 Competition’s stout lineup is multi-time Australian national champion Matt Wall. Wall, no stranger to the KZ ranks as he qualifies to Las Vegas as being the 2010 CIK KZ2 champion in Australia. Wall will complete his work aboard the 2011 Kosmic Lynx chassis, which has several upgrades geared specifically toward the KZ application.
“We have assembled a quality team with multiple drivers in the same category, which will be a nice added bonus for development. In addition to the driver lineup we will be bringing the new 2011 Kosmic Mercury chassis to Las Vegas, which again will lend our team another positive development.” — Management
